Mother's Lunar Age (虚岁): Calculations require the mother's Chinese lunar age (虚岁) at conception and the lunar conception month, not standard Gregorian calendar dates.
Lunar Conception Month (农历月份): Our tool automatically converts your solar dates, accounting for variable Lunar New Year cutoff dates and leap months (閏月).
Chinese Gender Chart (清宫生男生女图): The chart used here stays fixed. Calendar conversion changes the age and month used to select a cell; it does not make the prediction medically reliable.

Lunar conception months: 2026 and 2027

Neither lunar year has a leap month. These inclusive date ranges are generated by our lunar engine and checked against Hong Kong Observatory tables.

Conceived in January or early February 2027? Use the lunar year and month containing your actual conception date. The Fire Horse year ends on 5 February; Fire Goat begins on 6 February. Month 12 begins on 8 January, so 1–7 January is still month 11.

Reading the folk chart

1. How Chinese Lunar Age (虚岁) is Calculated

Lunar age = conception lunar year − birth lunar year + 1. A baby starts at age 1; the age increases at Chinese New Year. It can differ from completed Gregorian age by one or two years.

2. How We Determine Your Lunar Conception Month

Because the Chinese lunar calendar follows moon phases, each lunar month starts with a new moon and is 29 or 30 days long. Our tool automatically maps your Gregorian conception date to its corresponding lunar month (Month 1 / 正月 to Month 12 / 腊月).

3. How Chinese Leap Months (閏月) Are Handled

We use a modern chart convention: leap-month days 1–14 use the preceding month number, and day 15 onward uses the following number. This is not a verified imperial rule. The next leap month is month 5 in 2028.

4. Can the Chinese Gender Predictor Predict Twins or Multiples?

The chart gives one folklore result and cannot determine the sex of twins or multiples.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not always. While Chinese lunar age (虚岁) is typically 1 year older than Western age, it can be 2 years older depending on when your birthday falls relative to the Chinese Lunar New Year. In the Chinese system, you are 1 year old at birth, and everyone gains 1 year on the first day of Lunar New Year (Spring Festival). If you were born late in the lunar year, you turn 2 years old at your first Chinese New Year even if you are only a few weeks old in Western terms.

LMP mode adds 14 days to the first day of your last period as a rough estimate. Cycle lengths and ovulation dates vary; this is not a clinical estimate.

The chart is strictly based on the Chinese Lunar Calendar (农历月份). Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, each lunar month starts on a new moon and differs from the Gregorian calendar by several weeks. Our calculator automatically converts your solar conception date to the exact lunar month and day.
