How the Date Finders Work

All ten finders use the Chinese calendar (UTC+8) and apply the same transparent matching rules, optional personal zodiac clash filter, and sourced almanac labels.

1. Activity Matching (宜 and 忌)

A date is included when at least one activity in the selected category appears in Yi (宜) and does not appear in Ji (忌) for that same activity. Expand the activity counts in any finder to see how many days match each specific term.

2. Personal Zodiac Clash Filter (六冲)

In traditional practice, a day whose earthly branch opposes your birth-year animal (the six Liu Chong pairs, such as Rat and Horse) is avoided for personal milestones. Choosing your sign hides those clash dates from the results and calendar export.

3. Clash Direction and Day Officers (十二建除)

Each result card displays the daily clash animal, Sha direction, and one of the Twelve Day Officers from Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu (钦定协纪辨方书). These badges provide traditional context; day officers do not change the finder's Yi/Ji activity match.

Auspicious Dates Hub FAQ

No. Each finder matches a date when at least one term in its category appears in Yi (宜) and is absent from Ji (忌). For example, a renovation match on 修造 (above-ground repair) can still list 动土 (breaking ground) in Ji (忌). Always check the matched terms shown on the date card.

In the traditional almanac, 修造 covers repairing or remodeling an existing structure above ground, whereas 动土 means excavating soil or digging foundations. Similarly, 开市 refers to opening a business to customers, whereas 立券 refers to signing contracts or deeds. Our finders list which specific terms matched on each date.

No. The day officer (calculated from the solar-month branch and day branch) is shown as an informational badge on each result card with a tap/keyboard explanation. The date list itself is determined by the category's Yi/Ji terms and your optional personal zodiac clash filter.
